WHAT IS NATIONAL JOY GERM DAY?

January 8th annually recognizes National JoyGerm Day. National JoyGerm Day was created as a day to remind people across the country that by being positive and treating people with kindness, they can influence those around them and pass that positive attitude on to others. When we share good moods, we impact the lives of people around us and those people become infected with that same positive joy and spread it to others.

Laugh, smile, be kind, inspire and spread the one type of germ that is good for everyone to catch.

HOW DID JOYGERM DAY BEGIN?

Founded in 1981 by a rather joyful and exuberant woman, Joan White, National Joygerm Day became official in 1985 and spread infectiously across the nation through TV interviews, radio shows, newsletters, magazines, postcards, hug coupons and well, the pure joy of its founder. The Joygerm continues her legacy by helping kids share their joygerms with others.

WHAT DOES AN ASSEMBLY LOOK LIKE?

Each school assembly is geared towards elementary age children. This 30 minute assembly is filled with fun and excitement from the "WHEEL OF JOY" and is made to be very interactive. Our hope is that each child walks away with 3 main ideas on the importance of spreading joy and kindness to others. We leave them with easy ways to remember to be contagious.

SHARE KINDNESS: Be an encourager to others.

STAY RIGHT: Do the right thing always.

SPREAD JOY: Leave happiness behind.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

NOTHING, Nada, Zilch

It's not about the money, its about spreading germs.

The Joy Germ, that is.

“Ben’s background in entertainment performance along with his passion to instill character in children and young people are evident as he connects with his assembly audience. Your students will clamor for more as participants experience the joy that the program brings.

The staff and students at Powers Elementary loved the message that you shared about spreading kindness.  Your enthusiasm, joy and positive attitude were contagious!  The assembly fit in perfectly with our school wide PBIS program and our desire to teach students about making positive choices that benefit themselves and others.

The Joy Germ Assembly was a motivating and engaging experience for students. The pillars of the Joy Germ Assembly align with the Ohio Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports by utilizing strategies that help students focus upon choices that promote academic success and social competence.  I high recommend spreading the "Joy Germ" around any school environment!
